Because we believe everyone deserves a path forward.
In a world flooded with quick fixes and promises of happiness, Spoke 18 offers something deeper—an innovative, multi-dimensional approach to building real, lasting strength. We believe that strength is the foundation of happiness, and we help individuals develop it from the inside out. We create an environment that encourages youth to reach their potential and with mental strength. We help them to learn their own capacity for greatness by trying harder and experiencing new things which helps them unleash their potential that is buried inside themselves!
Our model blends neuroscience, emotional regulation, faith, storytelling, and immersive experiences with artists and creators from all walks of life. Whether through insight into how the brain and nervous system function, or through powerful shared moments of creativity and reflection, we help people reclaim and rebuild what’s been missing.
That’s why we’re here—to help complete the wheel, one spoke at a time, and empower people to move forward with strength, purpose, and power.
The Specific “Why” to this program?
The challenges facing today’s youth and young adults are unprecedented. From the pressures of social media to the weight of a world often filled with negativity, our young people must build both mental and physical strength to thrive. Our program empowers youth to do just that—through a unique integration of food, faith, neuroscience, and the arts. Many youth are deeply engaged in athletics which is great – time to have them bring that “can-do” mindset in a creative, dynamic environment. Grounded in the principles of the Michelangelo Effect, we guide youth toward renewed confidence, clarity, and strength—equipping them with the wisdom and resilience to move forward with purpose.
A One-of-a-Kind Opportunity!!!!!
Join an inspired community of artists and professionals who are passionate about growth, creativity, and transformation. This is more than a program—it’s an experience. You’ll discover new perspectives, try new things, and connect with other young people who are on this journey with you. Together, we’re building something powerful—and you’re invited to be part of it.
What is the “Michelangelo Effect Model” ?
Michelangelo’s David is one of the most celebrated sculptures in history and a defining symbol of the Renaissance. Carved between 1501 and 1504 from a single block of white marble, the statue stands 17 feet tall and weighs over 12,000 pounds. The marble had originally been quarried for a project started by Donatello but was abandoned for nearly 50 years after being deemed flawed.
The sculpture captures the biblical hero David in a moment of intense focus, just before his battle with Goliath. Rather than depicting him in victory, Michelangelo chose to portray David as calm, poised, and alert—embodying strength, courage, and defiance. One of the statue’s most notable features is its exaggerated right hand, believed to be a reference to a Hebrew nickname for David meaning “strong of hand.”
The Michelangelo Effect
The Michelangelo Effect describes a powerful psychological phenomenon in which individuals—especially in close relationships—are shaped and encouraged by their partner’s positive perceptions, support, and belief in their potential. Just as Michelangelo once said he simply revealed the figure already present within the marble, this effect shows how others can help us uncover and become our ideal selves.
How It Works:
-
The Ideal Self: Each person carries an internal vision of who they hope to become—more confident, more capable, more whole.
-
Partner Influence: When someone sees that potential in you—especially a trusted partner, mentor, or guide—their belief can act as a mirror and a motivator. Their support encourages you to act in alignment with your best self.
-
Sculpting the Self: Over time, this positive reinforcement helps “chisel away” limiting beliefs, fears, and past experiences—revealing strength, resilience, and growth.
-
Positive Outcomes: Research shows the Michelangelo Effect can lead to stronger relationships, higher self-esteem, personal development, and a deeper sense of purpose.
-
Mutual Effort: This process isn’t one-sided. It works best when both individuals commit to seeing and supporting the best in each other.
At Spoke 18, we deliver this effect, using the Michelangelo Effect Model, through intentional relationships and programming that affirms people’s worth and capacity. Whether through trauma-informed support, artistic expression, faith development and sharing, or neuroscience-based emotional regulation, we help individuals shape a stronger, healthier version of themselves—with the right people walking beside them.
